BUFFALO-RUN PROTECTOR PAD

The Envelope pad was used to house the old white felt Corrector. In the Newer ProTecTOR version the protective shields are built into what was the Envelope Pad. Many new materials are used in this process. They incorporate: weight savings, closer contact, easier cleaning, and last but not least; less moisture retention + improved heat transfer via a breathable core.  Front balance shims are often necessary to balance you in the seat of your saddle. The balance shims are designed to lift the saddle for your comfort without pinching at the withers like thick pads do.(or roll on the round-backed horse) The PROTECTOR is: Cut back in front, Elliptical in center, and  cut forward from rear center, it's the coolest close-contact pad for the horse you'll find. The PROTECTOR has 1/10th thick polymer shields. The top of the Protector Pad is of 1/8" dense Black felt,  The PROTECTOR Pad has a set of TEN 1/4” firm FELT balance shims in a Pocket above the protective shields! They work as a wedge under the saddle as the back rounds when riding.  Just slip the shims in or out in  a few seconds to give you an adjustable saddling system. All ProTecTOR pads now have softer OIL Tanned  wearleathers! The NEW 4MM FELT LINER PAD keeps you from having to WASH your PROTECTOR PAD. A Thin LEATHER REINFORCEMENT center strip STRENGTHENS the center cutback & elliptical opening of the PROTECTOR. A black Vinyl center strip toughens the Felt Liner. The 2020 PROTECTOR PADS are the best I've done. Regards, Len

The cut of the ProTecTOR and the 4 molded protective shields shape to your animal immediately. They follow his movement thru the; bending, raising and lowering, of his back. Relief slots are engineered to buffer the pressures of Impingement to Movement created by all saddles. This prevents interference with the shoulders and keeps the saddle in the correct position. No Damaging Pressures at the withers & loins! You get close contact, natural movement

and a more stable saddle even in the downhill. Call Len @ 816 625 0333

Hi Len,  We won the Green Horse Trail, Novice Amateur Trail, Select Amateur Trail at the Canadian National Quarter Horse Show 2008. My horse's registered name is "Tommy Two Lark"   He was in his show Tack for hours and did not sore up or even get the least bit uncomfortable. His last go was even better than his first!    I did have a winning photo taken but  haven't got it back yet.    I have just purchased shorter Protector Pad. It is to go under my Show Pad, as the Cutter Pad is great for everyday use but just too big under my show pad. This week at the show I used the smaller Protector over a thin felt under the show pad and it just does not sit the way the Cutter pad does.  However it was still much better than without it. My horse's back is much stronger now we are always using the Protector and he does not have the hollows behind his shoulders like he used to, before we used your saddle pad system. Now, he never gets saddled without it!

We just won the Quarter Horse Canadian Nationals in all our divisions. He is able to work consistently and comfortably now we are using your system. Thanks so much!! Sandy Huot ...

Aug. 26th 2008.Hello Len ,  I just wanted to let you know that the Protector works wonderfully well under my Show Pad.   Also my horse's back has improved so much since I started using your saddle pad system that I have been able to reduce the front shims from 3 down to 2! His back looks awesome , his top-line has improved immensely. He can lift his back now without discomfort and he is getting softer and softer with all his transitions.

We just had another great show and came home with another circuit award buckle!   I have given your contact information to other Quarter Horse Show people who have had the same saddle  fitting problems that we have had.  Thanks for inventing such a great product! Sandy  9-23-08   Len,  My horse is turning 17 this year and his back now looks better than it did when he was years younger. It is exciting for me to be able to now add other classes to our show schedule and know that he is happy and comfortable and totally willing to go out there and work for me.

People can't believe he is 17, even the vets think he looks like a 6 yr old! I believe his conditioning and his new attitude are a direct result of using your saddle pad system. Thank you so much for developing it! Sandy .... Jan. 07, 2009

STOP...SPENDING THOUSANDS!

  •  I designed the corrector to overcome~ basic inadequacies  found in most all saddles.               In 95`&96`over 500 top ROPERS and REINERS paid $1,000 apiece to have the O/Flex System put in their saddles. Though it worked well for the horse, most riders couldn't get used to:.....

  • The feeling of being up "off" the horse.

  • Having to girth extra tight!

  • The Rebound of the panel system. (bounce)

  • How many shims to put behind the shoulders! The loss of CONTACT & FEEL to their horse!

  •  Now for only the cost  of a quality pad you can get a far advanced system that; makes any saddle work for your horse or any other horse, frees up the shoulders and restores natural movement and gives you closer contact! It also positions your saddle properly every time, regardless of the horse. STOP...SPENDING THOUSANDS! FIGHTING ~the SADDLEFIT MONKEY~Len

Dear Len,

Thanks for the Saddle Pad. It has changed the way my horse works!

Before, when you would be CUTTING a Cow, sometimes he would pitch a little, and or, not run real Hard to the FENCE. I tried several PADS. But when I used your New design pad, he is now working like a Champ! We took second at Grand Island this year in RANCH CUTTING!  By the way, my Granddaughter and I do a lot of Trail Riding and there is so much difference, Hank WALKS FASTER AND MOVES WITH HIS HEAD DOWN!     Thanks, Claude Bryant  ,Ok.

Len, I've been using the Corrector for about 2 months now, and just wanted to let you know how it was working.

I have a 9 yr. old REINING HORSE who was sluggish when he was asked to back up. I felt that my saddle was digging in behind his shoulder blades. Since I have used the Corrector his backup has improved greatly. His turnarounds have improved as well.I wanted to thank you for a great invention.

                                Sincerely,

              Melissa Peabody, April 29th 2004

Hello Len,

I have a mule that got very bad sores from a flex saddle, which I thought would not make her sore.  It is a timberline cutback trail blazer model.  I guess it was copied from the Ortho- Flex saddle, so I was told.  I also used a professional choice air pad under this saddle.  She has permanent damage to her back in the form of very bad lumps.  I saw the damage soon enough due to the winter hair.  Will the Corrector system correct this problem?

P.S. Again, a person would not think a flex saddle of this kind would do this.

- Regards, Sephen J

Hello Len,  Back in the spring I had you work on my Timberline Flex Saddle.  I in fact I had used this saddle for a period of 2 years prior to this. During that time, never did I know I was hurting my mules back. As a result it was putting severe saddle sores inbedded in her back which she still lives with. Len said some screws had worked loose which holds on the delrin panels and were grinding in the mules back.

Thanks to Len Brown and the re-construction of the saddle and the Corrector pad, the lumps haven't gotten any worse and maybe have improved some. I rode her all summer and at this point feel very confident I can ride her without feeling like I am hurting her.  Thanks Len  .... Stephen Jansing   12 / 12 / 2008

A PACK SADDLE LEN REWORKED for THE 3,000 mi RIDE

HORSEBACK for 3,000mi. THRU THE WEST TAUGHT MANY LESSONS ABOUT SADDLEFITTING AND the HORSE.

The Std. ProTecTOR fits 13" thru 14" saddles with 25" or shorter skirts, Synthetic saddles can size down 1" for ordering, because their bars are shorter.   Most Aussie models and any 17" or larger English work well with a Std.Western for trail, endurance, etc.

Saddles 14.5" and up with a 26"skirt or longer and 22" + Bars  work best with the Large Western ProTecTOR. Lengths of the Western ProTecTOR: [Std.=25&1/4" lgth, Large =27&1/4" lgth.]

They copied all they could copy,

But they couldn't copy my mind;

And I left them sweatin`and stealin`,

A year and a half behind.>Rudyard Kipling

Since 1983 I've spent millions educating the public about the effects of saddles on  the horse. My Misson has always been to improve the lives of HORSES, that I'd bonded with during our 3,000 mi. horseback TREK in 1982 with 2 riding horses and 3 pack horses.

Now there are "Questionable Delrin Panel / Flex Saddles"   everywhere. Have you spent Big Bucks for a poorly made FLEX model {to hopefully FIX your saddling problems} just to wake up with a WHOLE SET of worse PROBLEMS? Don't confuse Treeless & other Flex-Tree saddles with panel Orthoflex type saddles. The ProTecTOR works great with the flex tree and helps somewhat with treeless saddles that are harsher to the horse than any regular saddles. If you have a TREELESS YOUR PROBLEMS ARE ETERNAL; the ProTecTOR / Corrector system will not fix all the problems these cheap poorly engineered FAKE SADDLES HAVE,  enough said!  PS> since first writing the above I've noticed that some saddle manufacturers have made their flex trees stiffer & with little flex. That is good but there is still no shape on the bottom of the bars that buffers the movement of the horse below. Just a sharp edge of a Slightly flexible Plastic. Circle Y is the worst at this time with Precision Saddletree Company as their supplier. Just sharp edged plastic panels screwed to a fork & cantle., they are way to flexible.

The CorrecTOR SYSTEM will fix rolling problems of a Delrin panel system like the Ortho-Flex. You'll see testimonials from long time Ortho-Flex owners on the site. First you have to remove the panels, here's why: It's the pressure from the front of the bars; that keeps the CorrecTOR and YOUR saddle positioned, and makes it work. "That same pressure that gives you fits right now with your regular saddle!"  The lack of any localized pressure under a Delrin Panel saddle is why they roll like a "CAMEL SADDLE" and slide forward in the downhill like a pair of Snow Skis.

I remove the Delrin Flex-Panels and convert Ortho-Flex saddles made by me from Nevada, MO.  I no longer do conversions on Timberline, American Flex Saddles, Amera Flex, FlexLite and Watson Bros. or HILLVIEW EVOLUTION saddles. THE TREES ON THESE SADDLES ARE OFTEN CROOKED & NONE ARE PROPERLY ENGINEERED WITH GOOD BAR SHAPE OR ANGLE. THEY SIMPLY ARE MORE WORK THAN IT IS WORTH & WILL OFTEN NOT EVEN WORK WITH A PROTECTOR SYSTEM.

A Western conversion includes new skirting leather & fleece under the old skirt leather, restitching, shaping to the bars and mounting the skirts, like  a normal saddle's skirts. Checking and correcting the rigging positioning and angle is also done.  The skirts are positioned back like a normal saddle & the dropped yoke often has to be moved back as well.  Call me for pricing on Delrin Panel saddle Conversions. Len >816 625 0333  Then you will need  the ProTecTOR SADDLE FOUNDATION SYSTEM to evenly distribute the excess tree pressures as your horse moveS. As well, it will give you close contact,  position your saddle automatically, stop the bounce & rubbing you often have with the panels.

Your Flex Panel saddle will lose 3 or 4 lbs. and be 4" or 5" shorter if you want me to reduce the skirt size also.

It takes years of experience to "safely" step outside of the tried and proven in the horseworld and be successful for the longhaul. I learned this the hard way over the last 34 years! I've made mistakes and I've learned a lot.  There are no OLDTIMERS in this field but me, and I'm SMART ENOUGH NOT TO DO A FLEX-PANEL SADDLE AGAIN!

When I owned ORTHO_FLEX I sent a special pad, special girth, and special rigging, were necessary to make the PANEL SYSTEM FUNCTION "reasonably well".  I spent more on Paying Clinicians, Advertising, and Troubleshooting the flex panel System than I did making saddles. I shut down ORTHO-FLEX by CHOICE. I could have taken a Chapter 11 and erased the large debt load and kept on making them. I didn't want to, I knew better after 17 years of trying. The First patented system I did worked the best but it fatigued and stress cracked in a year and I had to replace 150 of them. NO Material would hold up to the one system patent. The other LATER patents were done to try and make something work as well as it did but to stay together. None of these treasure hunters building panel systems and charging big bucks know this. They don't know the history of "WHY".

Thousands of people try to fit saddles to horses, I make saddles WORK to be used from horse to horse.  Regards,  Len Brown
